
Long hair is commitment and something that takes a lot of time and care. Your hair grows up to 6 inches a year. The weather also plays important role in hair growth. Hair tends to grow more rapidly in the summer, while growing more slowly during winter and grow more rapidly in the summer.
A healthy diet also plays a major role in your hair's condition and growth rate. Lack of proper Nutrition can lead to thinning of the hair. So your hair is a reflects of your body health. So if you are suffering from any health problems your hair may stop growing.
Since hair is protein, a low protein diet may sometimes be the cause of a slow hair growth cycle. If you eat a protein-rich diet, it will often result in improved hair growth. Hair is made of protein, so include more of protein in your diet like meats, eggs, cheese, seeds and nuts. Fish has good protein as well as essential fatty acids and natural oils., along with consume food with vitamin B, C, E, A and K. Include more of salads and sprouts in your meals. Avoid fried, oil and junk food.
Excessive stress is known to slow down hair growth, and can even lead to hair falling out. If your life is particularly stressful, try to set aside some time for meditation or relaxation. It has also been discovered that regular sleep can help your hair grow faster (7-9 hours a night is suggested).
Avoid consuming more of tea, coffee. Try and cut down on smoking, drinking alcohol and foods that are high in sugar or fat. These are all bad for your body, and will affect the condition of your hair.
Sleep also plays an important role in hair growth. If you do not your regular 7 hour sleep everyday it would effect your hair. Give yourself time to relax when you're feeling very stressed. Avoid cheap plastic brushes and buy a good quality brush or comb. Do not brush your hair when its not needed. Tools such as straighteners, hair dryers and hot rollers can cause stress to your hair, avoid using them.
Avoid saltwater while shampooing your hair. When you go for swimming do not forget to use a swimming cap to protect your hair form chlorine, as its very harmful to the hair. When you ere out in the sun always carry an umbrella with you to protect your hair from the ultra rays of the sun. Do not brush your hair when wet. Use a wide tooth comb and be gentle with your hair when it is wet. Do not rub it vigorously with a towel. Get regular trims done to your hair to get rid of split ends and to keep your hair looking and feeling healthy. Weekly oil massage on your scalp would stimulation the hair follicles.
Long hair though looks very beautiful, but it involves lots of care and attention to maintain them.
